Your Weekend Sorted with D&G: Fulham, Hammersmith & Shepherds Bush
Happy Friday, everybody! After a long, hard week at work (in our case, anyway!), it’s time to sit back, relax and use our useful events guide to plan your weekend.
Ravenscourt Park
Pop-Up Screens has moved to Ravenscourt Park, and has a fantastic selection of movies that will be screened in the great outdoors this weekend. Terminator, Moulin Rouge and Top Gun will be shown on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday respectively. Doors open at 7.30pm, and the movie starts at 9pm. There will be delicious food, popcorn and beer on sale. Do remember to bring your own cushions or blankets, however.
Riverside Studios
Throughout the school holidays, Riverside Studios will be showing special screenings of children’s movies on the weekend. This Sunday’s offering is “Despicable Me 2”, a heart-warming tale involving family and villainy. The movie will start at 2.30pm, and children will receive a free drink and popcorn. Tickets cost £4 for adults and £2 for kids.
“Tete A Tete: The Opera Festival” is also running at Riverside Studios for the first 3 weeks of August. Tonight you can watch a performance of “The Garden”, a tale involving a dysfunctional couple and their trials and tribulations during the last days of the Earth. There are many other shows that may interest you, so take a look at the events timetable here.
Finally, for your dose of classic cinema, stop by on Sunday night for a double bill - Vincent Minnelli’s “The Bad and the Beautiful” will be screened at 6pm, followed by “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” at 8.25pm.
Fulham Palace
Fulham Palace will be hosting a museum drop-in afternoon this Sunday from 2pm to 3.30pm. This free event is open to adults and children alike, and visitors will have the chance to examine artefacts, try on Georgian costumes and learn about the history of the Palace.
Marcus Garvey Park
There will be a community gardening day at the Marcus Garvey Park in Hammersmith, this Sunday from 2pm to 4pm. Volunteers are welcome, and you will help with planting, watering and tidying up.
Shepherds Bush Empire
Kings of Leon will be rocking Shepherds Bush Empire this Friday night – doors open at 7pm. If you haven’t gotten your tickets yet, hurry before you miss out! This gig forms part of their first tour of the UK after a two-year hiatus.
Craven Cottage
If you’re a Fulham FC fan, then make sure to cheer them on at their preseason friendly against Parma this Saturday at 3pm.
