We Love Local: The Brown Cow

Tell us a little bit about The Brown Cow.

The Brown Cow was put together in September 2012 by the owners of the Sands End Public House, their other gastro pub situated off the Wandsworth Bridge Road in Fulham. Quite simply, it is a venue providing high end but simple pub food and casual and charismatic service in a rustic and charming room.

The Brown Cow is unique in that it provides a space for everyone to socialise; there are no barriers dependent on age, class or budget.

What do you enjoy most about working there?

I love the charming team behind the establishment.

What kind of food can one expect to find at The Brown Cow?

Our chefs are all Michelin trained, so the food is consistently good.

The menu is varied; from our infamous scotch eggs and sausage rolls to our lobsters that are couriered to Fulham within 24 hours of being caught. We serve a range of bar snacks and tapas, traditional pub food as well as more complicated contemporary dishes. The Brown Cow and Sands End have their own allotments for some of the vegetables and herbs served, as well as day-boat deliveries of fish and selected farms for our meat.

Do you have a most popular speciality dish?

Since opening, we have had a section of sharing dishes on the menu. The one dish that continues to outsell the others is the 45 day aged Dexter rib of beef for two, served with béarnaise sauce and beef dripping chips.

The space has a lovely rustic feel, was there a reason behind choosing this kind of decor?

The rustic interior of the Brown Cow was intended to give the customers a comfortable, relaxed vibe, providing a space where people would feel right at home.

When walking into the pub, patrons can expect a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere.

Over the last 3 years Fulham has began to take on a more village-like feel with the emergence of boutique-style businesses in the area.
