The Weekend Guide: Fulham, Hammersmith & Shepherds Bush
It’s been a week of rather warm weather and royal baby fever! Time for some rest and relaxation, yes? Here’s our Friday roundup of all the events taking place in your area this weekend.
Fulham Palace
Shakespeare’s romantic comedy, As You Like It, will be performed tonight on the lawns of Fulham Palace at 7pm. The play involves four people who each find their soulmates in the Forest of Arden, and details the cynicism, political intrigue and multiple disguises that follow. Bring along some cushions or a blanket, and enjoy the re-enactment of a classic underneath the stars. Adults pay £12, whilst children cost £8.
Sands Ends Street Festival
The Sands End Street Festival will be taking place this Saturday, hosted by the Sands End Pub. The festival will begin at midday, and will include live music, retail stalls, street food, a bar and children’s activities. The Sands End Pub can be found on Stephendale Road – while you’re at the festival, you may as well sample some of their delicious, seasonal food! Their sister pub, The Brown Cow Pub, will be offering some of their divine cupcakes as well. The Sands End Festival takes place in aid of Ray’s Playhouse, a non-profit organisation that runs the area’s much-needed play centre which benefits local children and families.
Riverside Studios
“The Witches of Eastwick”, a comedic play revolving around 3 women and their hunt for a man, will be performed at Riverside Studios this weekend. There will be 2 shows on Saturday and Sunday, at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. The play will be performed by the City Academy’s Musical Theatre Company, and will run for around 2 hours. Tickets cost £15.
Ravenscourt Park
John Parnam Leisure will be operating a fairground at Ravenscourt Park, beginning this Saturday and running until 4th August. The fair opens daily at 12pm and closes in the early evening. Entry is free, and rides are token-operated. If you have young children or siblings who require entertainment, then why not bring them through for a few hours of fun?
Play Association Summer Fete
The Play Association of Hammersmith and Fulham will be holding their summer fete this Sunday at Queensmill School in West Kensington. There will be food and drink stalls, face-painting and children’s activities. Entry costs 50p per person. There will also be a car boot sale taking place. Proceeds go towards the Play Association, who provide activities for children with special needs.
Westfield London
The Westfield shopping centre will be hosting a day of family fun in conjunction with the Royal Academy of Arts. The event will take place on Sunday, and will run from 12pm to 5pm in the atrium. To celebrate the 2013 Summer Exhibition, children will learn how to make their own puppets and draw their own artistic masterpieces. The creations will then be displayed on the centre’s digital screens. Best of all, the event is free.
