Sales manager Maddie Miller talks Southfields vs Earlsfield
Earlier today, I was asked about the differences between Southfields and Earlsfield. It is amazing to note that there are such differences between two areas so close together. Southfields is very family –focused with a lovely community feel. You will get to know your neighbours and everyone knows what’s going on. There are a couple of new developments being built at the moment – the old snooker hall on Wimbledon Park Road is being developed into a big apartment block and M&S are rumoured to be taking the commercial space below. Cook has opened this year opposite our office and is so far doing really well – extremely convenient when you have left it too late to organise something for supper! Southfields has a few restaurants (serving primarily pizza – Franco Manca being the latest exciting arrival) and a few cafes with one solitary pub on Replingham Road called The Old Fields, which has undergone a bit of a facelift over the past month or so and is now worth a visit. There is also an excellent foodie pub on Merton Road called The Earl Spencer. By contrast, Earlsfield has much more going on from a social point of view. There are plenty of pubs, cafes, bars and restaurants to choose from including Carluccios and Ben’s Canteen which has recently opened in Earlsfield following the success of their restaurant on St John’s Hill. The area has more flats and purpose-built maisonettes than Southfields, so is perfect for young professionals who want the option to go for a drink on their way home from work and to be able to go out for dinner somewhere yummy within walking distance.
